Serenity Now...

Last week I spent a few days in bed with the stomach flu and finally got to catch up on all of my design magazines.  One of my favorites', World of Interiors, covered a home in Central Mexico, set in the Altiplano, not far outside of the city of San Miguel de Allende.
I found the home particularly calming and beautiful.   I appreciate the architecture which really merges the Mexican arid landscape to the minimal interiors.  I love the blend of Moroccan, Middle Eastern and European decorative elements.
According to the article the owners had an admiration for the Mexican Architect, Luis Barragan.
Barragan always used natural materials of stone and wood, and he claimed that,  "Any work of architecture that does not express "serenity" is a mistake.
I think if I could spend an afternoon in that pool... I would feel very serene.

I hope you now feel very calm and recharged for the start to a new week!
