Over the weekend I was looking at an old design book in my collection. It was Designer's Own Homes, Edited by Paige Rense, the then Editor - in- Chief for Architectural Digest. It was published in 1984.
So as I was flipping through and I stumbled on Interior Designer, Angelo Donghia's Key West home. It was such heaven.
I have a thing for Beach Houses. Obviously, because they represent "vacation" or feel "relaxing", but mostly because I love the simplicity, the cool colors and the natural fabrics and fibers that are typically used.
I loved his philosophy for this house, he was quoted as saying "it was time to assert the fact that purity of form, lightness and simplicity were important aims. And you know, imperfection is exhilarating.".
"The way a curtain moves in the breeze, the way a rug is arranged, the distinctive scent of a special person".
I feel this way about rooms I am helping to decorate. They should never feel"too perfect". I love when they feel"collected". You should be able to walk in and gain a sense of who lives there....
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy these photos... summer is not far off!
How to achieve this look for yourself? Use lots of natural items such as wicker, bamboo, linen, lots of white paint, splashes of color... and don't forget a palm plant!
Here are a couple of things I've selected...
Have a good one!

Yes, yes, yes! Love the interiors. Although, I would spend all day on that amazing porch if I had the chance! Thanks for sharing.
